Malibu is a laidback and exclusive city covering an area of breathtaking coastline around 30 miles west of Downtown Los Angeles. Malibu offers its residents a relaxed lifestyle with most homes located within half a mile of the beach. The renowned celebrity enclave of Malibu Colony is one of several Malibu neighborhoods offering stunning homes directly on the beachfront.

Malibu is famed for its magnificent views and exceptional luxury real estate. Malibu’s breathtaking natural beauty and proximity to Los Angeles have made it a popular destination for A-list celebrities since the first luxury homes were built in Malibu Colony in the 1920s. Malibu retains its unwavering appeal, combining a fine choice of restaurants and independent retailers with incomparable coastal scenery. There are many beaches along Malibu’s 33-mile unbroken stretch of Pacific Ocean coastline. The surrounding Santa Monica Mountains offer lots more recreation with hiking trails running through thousands of acres of gorgeous unspoiled wilderness.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Malibu Country Mart is a boutique shopping mall featuring an array of stylish fashion retailers, unique specialty stores, health and wellness services, and restaurants. Taverna Tony is a standout here for authentic Greek cooking. The menu at Taverna Tony includes meze platters, delicious fresh seafood, flavorful grilled meats, moussaka, and pasta dishes.

The adjacent Malibu Lumber Yard is a unique wood-lined shopping complex featuring upscale stores and eateries and open-air aquarium tanks. Regular special events at the Lumber Yard include outdoor yoga sessions and local music and wine showcases. Many more outstanding shops and restaurants can be found along Pacific Coast Highway 101 which runs through the entire length of Malibu. The flagship store for the trendy contemporary Californian fashion brand Aviator Nation is located directly opposite the historic Malibu Pier.

Nobu Malibu is the Californian coastal outpost of one of the world’s most famous sushi restaurants. This beachside eatery combines mesmerizing ocean views with expertly prepared nigiri and sashimi that is as fresh as it is delicious. Little Beach House Malibu is a beachfront gathering place for creatives run by the global Soho House network of members’ clubs. Soho House’s Little Beach House features an indoor bar decorated with artwork and an airy outdoor terrace overlooking the beach. Lily’s at Point Dume Village serves flavorful Mexican classics with an emphasis on perfectly balancing quality ingredients.

Things to Do

Malibu features 33 miles of stunning coastline with dozens of beaches. Point Dume State Beach is a wide sandy stretch of beach surrounding curving Dume Cove. Backed by ocean bluffs, this beach is an excellent spot to watch gray whales as they migrate between February and April. On the west side of Point Dume, Westward Beach offers access to hidden covers and hiking trails running the Point Dume Natural Preserve. This lifeguard-protected beach is also a popular destination for swimming and surfing. Westward Beach comprises the southern half of three-mile Zuma County Beach. The northern section of Zuma County Beach is Malibu’s best destination for beach volleyball.

Six-acre Malibu Bluffs Park offers baseball diamonds, sports fields, a playground, and picnic tables in a picturesque waterfront space with a whale watching station. On the second and fourth Sundays of each month, Malibu Sunday Cars and Coffee brings together Malibu’s automobile enthusiasts for a scenic cruise along the Pacific Coast Highway to Malibu Bluffs Park. The Santa Monica Mountains rising above Malibu Bluffs Park are home to the main campus of Pepperdine University.
